Can't-Miss Winter Events in Isle of Palms

Stay in the heart of the festive season! These winter happenings are located right on the island, putting you just steps away from holiday cheer, cozy dining, and quiet coastal walks.

Wild Dunes Resort Golf Cart Parade (November)

Join us at Wild Dunes as the community decks out their carts in dazzling lights and creative decorations for a festive procession through the resort. Led by the Isle of Palms Fire Department, this charming parade is fun for all ages and culminates in a special appearance by Santa Claus himself.

Local Pro Tip: Arrive early (around 10:00AM) to ensure you find a great spot to view the parade.

Holiday Street Festival (December)

Watch as Ocean Boulevard transforms into a winter wonderland featuring lively local music, artisan holiday vendors, dedicated kids’ activities, and delicious seasonal treats, all culminating in the magical lighting of the island Christmas tree.

Local Pro Tip: Dress in layers; the breeze off the ocean makes the evening temperatures feel much colder once the sun goes down.

The Windjammer NYE Bash (December)

Ring in the new year with a quirky coastal twist at the Folly Beach Flip-Flop Drop. Thousands gather on Center Street for live music and dancing before watching a giant pair of sparkly flip-flops descend at midnight, followed by a spectacular fireworks display over the ocean.

Local Pro Tip: Center Street becomes a pedestrian-only zone at 10:00 p.m. To avoid hours of gridlock leaving the island, park your car several blocks away or arrange rideshare pickup to meet you away from the center of all the activity.

Polar Plunge (February)

Start the new year with a thrilling splash in the Atlantic alongside fellow brave beachgoers for this popular community tradition. Participants gather at Front Beach to brave the cool winter waters, making memories and raising funds for a great cause while ringing in the new year.

Local Pro Tip: Bring a large towel and easy-to-slip-on shoes (like Crocs or flip-flops) for immediately after you exit the water.
